FULL STEAM AHEAD FOR OPENREACH'S ALL IP (DIGITAL VOICE) ROAD MAP

Openreach has announced that they are continuing with their existing upgrade schedule for All IP (Digital Voice), this includes the recently announced Tranche 8, which will see 46 further exchanges on May 9th 2023 enter stop-sell. This is the second confirmed announcement for 2023, with tranche 7 confirmed to include 98 exchanges in February next year. The total number of planned upgrades now stands at 581 – impacting over 5.5 million premises across the UK. At the bottom of this article, you will find a table containing the latest exchanges as part of this new tranche.

• Tranche 4: 69 exchanges on 29th April 2022

• Tranche 5: 97 exchanges on 2nd August 2022

• Tranche 6: 89 exchanges on 1st November 2022

Although the industry has until 2025 to complete the switch, action must be taken now! End-users are already receiving letters explaining to them that their local exchange is being upgraded to digital. Action by Installers has now reached a crucial state, where unprepared companies risk being caught in the chaos of last-minute upgrades in the months before the 2025 full migration date.
