Customer IT Survey Form

Introduction:

This form is for use when ordering DualCom Pro LAN + Radio or DualCom Pro LAN. 

The DualCom Pro will require an IP address to be allocated to it by the customer’s network administrator.

The following additional information will be required to complete the installation on the customer’s network.

Installation

  • A male terminated, RJ45 Ethernet connection to the customer’s network must be located by the DualCom Pro.
  • The LAN module on the DualCom Pro supports auto-negotiation of speeds up to 100 Mbps full-duplex. Typical message size = 180 bytes. Per month usage does not exceed 35 Megabytes.
  • No additional configuration is required in My Base when the IP address is allocated using DHCP.
  • If manual IP address configuration is required:
    • For a DualCom Pro LAN+ Radio, this can be configured using My Base.
    • For a DualCom Pro LAN only
      • Configure the settings via My Base. 
      • Configure the manual IP addresses via My Base. 
    • Commission the DualCom Pro on a network that supports DHCP; we recommend configuring the device before taking it to the site. 
    • Move the DualCom Pro to the customer’s network once commissioned. 

Use of IP [Network Setup]

  • The DualCom Pro uses UDP to communicate with the CSL Servers (TCP is not used).
  • All DualCom Pro traffic will originate on source ports in the range 50561 to 50569.
  • The destination ports for the CSL Servers will be 50561 and 50569.
  • All communication is originated by the DualCom Pro.
  • The DualCom Pro will operate behind a firewall implementing NAT and conforming with RFC-4787 so that responses from the CSL Servers are successfully received by the DualCom Pro.
  • The UDP packet transmitted by the DualCom Pro includes the local IP address and source port. On receipt of the sequenced UDP packet, the CSL Server will reply with a reciprocal (sequenced) UDP packet which the firewall should NAT back to the DualCom Pro's local IP address and source port.
    • The NAT Session Timeout on the customer’s firewall must be configured to at least 30 seconds to give sufficient time for the CSL Server response to reach the DualCom Pro.
    • If a stateful firewall is not being used, a specific rule may be required to allow the return traffic to reach the DualCom Pro.
  • The DualCom Pro will drop/ignore any traffic which originates from other sources. 
  • No IP connectivity exists between the radio IP and LAN IP networks in the DualCom Pro and no IP bridging is possible between the networks within the DualCom Pro.

 

CSL Servers:

  • The DualCom Pro comes pre-configured with the CSL Commissioning Server IP addresses (see below). It will then use the IP addresses that are allocated as part of commissioning for alarm signalling. There are no restrictions on the source address and traffic is allowed from anywhere to the CSL Server.

  • The full range of servers must be enabled on the customer’s firewall to ensure correct operation of the DualCom Pro over Ethernet.
