Who Are CSL Looking For?
The role holder is involved in the design of networks, systems architecture as well as the development and integration of overall solutions, support of IT network infrastructure, Consultancy, network security to both internal and external customers.
A strong candidate for a role of Senior Network Engineer in CSL is someone who has:
•A degree or equivalent qualification in computer science, engineering, or a related field or equivalent academic or professional experience
•At least five years of experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining IP networks, systems architecture, and network security, preferably in an IoT environment
•Methodical troubleshooter and team player but able to take ownership and drive projects and investigations self sufficiently.
•In-depth knowledge of network protocols, standards, and technologies, such as TCP/IP, IPv6, MPLS, VPN, QoS, SDN, NFV, etc.
•Experience in using network monitoring, troubleshooting, and management tools, such as SNMP, NetFlow, Wireshark, SolarWinds, etc.
•Proficiency in scripting languages, such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc., and automation tools, such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, etc.
•Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and be technical lead/subject matter expert in projects or teams
•Demonstratable experience in designing and leading on the build of large network deployments.
•Certifications from recognized vendors or organizations, such as Cisco, Juniper, FortiGate, etc., are desirable but not essential
Duties & Responsibilities:
This role will encompass a range of responsibilities including but not limited to:
•Design, build, configure, install, test and managed a high availability and fault tolerant network and infrastructure for the WAN, LAN, SAN, VPN networks specific to IoT use cases.
•Design and implement network solutions for IoT services, including LAN, WAN, VPN, firewall, load balancing, routing, switching, IP addressing schemes, and internet routing technologies e.g BGP, alongside associated security services and controls.
•Manage and optimize the performance, availability, and security of the IoT network infrastructure.
•Provide technical guidance and support to the engineering and operations teams on network design, configuration, troubleshooting, and best practices.
•Supporting and inputting to infrastructure as code deployments in the cloud and datacentres, working alongside other engineers.
•Lead and participate in network projects, from planning to execution, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, standards and policies.
•Document and maintain network architecture, design, and configuration.
•Solicit feedback on designs both conceptually and after implementation to ensure ongoing continuous learning and improvement for future implementations.
•Research and evaluate new technologies and solutions to meet business needs for our IoT network services.
•Collaborate with vendors and partners on network solutions and issues.
•Present to stakeholders, including senior management and customer representative solutions and their associated risks, costs and benefits both in a technical and non-technical manner.
•Provide escalated 3rd level support as required.
•Participate in out of hours on call rota for major incidents.
•Travel as required for customer presentations, installations, meetings etc
Key Skills & Qualifications Sought:
•Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
•At least 5 years of experience in network solutions architecture, design, and implementation, preferably for IoT services.
•Strong knowledge and experience in network technologies and protocols, such as TCP/IP, IPv4/v6, BGP, TFTP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, etc.
•Proficient in network devices and tools, such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, BGP, monitoring, etc.
•Experience in managing and troubleshooting large-scale and complex network environments.
•Experience in data center network design and implementation, including network virtualization, cloud networking, and IoT usage patterns.
•Certifications in network technologies, such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, etc., are preferred.
•Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation skills.
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
•Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
•Effective relationship building and stakeholder management.
